Melvyn’s commemorated a landmark moment in its history: half a century of legendary dining in Palm Springs. Beginning October 13, 2025 the iconic restaurant welcomed guests on a nostalgic journey through five decades of glamour and distinction. Across five themed weeks, Melvyn’s revisited each era from 1975 to 2025, culminating in a memorable anniversary celebration on November 15.
The series paid homage to everything that has defined Melvyn’s over the years; its unmistakable Old Hollywood spirit, its elegant and timeless setting, and the countless evenings that have unfolded within its storied dining room. Whether recalling celebrity regulars, special occasions, or generations of loyal guests, each decade’s tribute underscored why Melvyn’s has remained a cherished Palm Springs landmark.
Though the anniversary festivities have come to a close, Melvyn’s legacy endures. Its signature hospitality, classic charm, and rich history continue to echo through the space, keeping its celebrated past very much alive for all who visit.
Beginning on October 13, 2025, Melvyn’s invited guests to step back through five decades of history during an immersive “Dining Through the Decades” experience. Over five weeks, each era, from the restaurant’s founding in 1975 through 2025, was honored with era-inspired menus, classic cocktails, period music, and evocative moments that showcased how Melvyn’s evolved while still staying true to its roots. The celebration culminated with a grand anniversary event on November 15, 2025, featuring live music, nostalgic entertainment, and an evening of open-bar cocktails and bites inspired by Melvyn’s original menu.
Melvyn’s opened its doors in 1975 at the historic Ingleside Estate, under the vision of Mel Haber. In transforming the site, Haber restored the estate’s elegant charm and created a restaurant and lounge that quickly became a favorite haunt of Hollywood’s elite.
From the beginning, Melvyn’s embodied Old Hollywood glamour. Its classic supper-club ambiance, complete with chandeliers, velvet seating, live music, and tableside service, drew celebrities and dignitaries alike. Icons such as Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and members of the Rat Pack frequented the restaurant, helping cement its reputation as a cultural hub of Palm Springs nightlife and fine dining. Sinatra’s connection was particularly memorable: he even held a rehearsal dinner at Melvyn’s for his wedding in 1976, further intertwining the restaurant with Hollywood lore.
